Financial Assistance FAQs

Is financial assistance available?

Yes, to qualifying families whose daughter is applying for Grade 8 entry only. Assuming there are no changes to the family’s financial situation, financial assistance will continue through to grade 12. Financial assistance covers both tuition and program support.

How do I apply for financial assistance?

The application for financial assistance is separate from the application for admission. Both must be submitted in order to be considered for financial assistance. Candidates wishing to apply for financial assistance are required to complete and submit the Financial Aid for Canadian Students (FACS) application form through Apple Financial Services, which will be available October 1.

To be considered for the 2018-2019 academic year, financial assistance applications are to be completed no later than December 1.

How are financial assistance decisions made?

Financial assistance is based on demonstrated financial need and is determined on a case-by-case basis. Apple Financial Services will confidentially assess all FA applications and provide the school with unbiased evaluations of the financial resources available to each applicant family. This includes but is not limited to, the parent or guardian’s gross family income, net income, assets and liabilities, and information about dependents. Also taken into consideration are other expenditures, national standards for variations in size of family, the number of children, cost of living, and a host of specific family circumstances.

The analysis provided by Apple Financial is used to assist the Bursary Committee in making their final decisions. Applications for financial assistance are reviewed and evaluated independently from admission applications.

If financial assistance is awarded, this information is communicated at the time of the offer of admission.

Does the school assist with the costs associated with applying?

Yes. As a new family applying for grade 8 and applying for financial assistance, the fees associated with the CHS admission application might be a barrier. If so, you are invited to submit a fee waiver request.

Once approved, one or more of the following fees may be waived:

  • The CHS application fee of $350
  • The online Financial Aid for Canadian Students (FACS) application fee of $100
  • The SSAT registration fee of $132 USD.
